☀️ MORNING & NIGHT ROUTINES 🌕

morning night routine.jpg

I wrote about few self love practices the other day. Following that, I want to share what worked for me as morning and night routines ✨

.

Why have a morning or night routine?

.

In the morning, it sets you up for a good mood to start the day. In the evening, it helps you rewind and have a better quality of sleep. You’re using your energy and body a lot more efficiently.

.

🤩 Having a morning routine 🤩

.

For the last 6 years, I’ve been trying loads of things as morning routines. This is what I found that works for me.

.

Now I do this:

- I wake up, check my temperature for Natural Cycles. Yes this has became a thing 😍 It is a natural birth control method.

- I make my bed. It sets you up for already feeling good for completing a task, productivity etc.

- I brush my teeth, wash my face etc

- I do yoga for 20 minutes. Check out downdog app - alternative - 15 squats and 30 sec plank

- I do my morning pages. 3 pages of brain dump for around 30 minutes - if not 15 minutes ✍🏼

.

You might say, I don’t have 30 minutes in the morning to fluff about. Start with 10 minutes, do that for a week then add another 10 minutes. For your wellbeing, happiness and inner peace. Even writing 10 mins as a restart can do sometimes. See what works for you.

.

I used to be very controlling with this having a full on routine lasting for an hour. Then I went to the other side of the spectrum and had no routine whatsoever for a year.

.

Some days when I don’t have time, I skip the yoga and write for 10 minutes. Don’t beat yourself up with this.

.

Best thing you can do in the morning is not checking for your phone UNTIL after breakfast. Sometimes I do that and it feels great. These days, I check it after writing, before breakfast 😊

.

😴 Having a night routine 😴

.

It’s nearly impossible to increase your quality of sleep when you dive into your bed just after working on your laptop. An hour calmdown is the best, if you can’t do that half an hour will do too.

.

This is what I do now:

- I start with taking a bath sometimes, definitely not every night.

- I read a fiction book or novel. This helps your mind to rewind.

- I have warm milk with honey. I had it every night as a kid, I still love it. If you’re not into milk, try apple cider vinegar in tea and honey 🍯

.

Even reading a fiction book for 10 minutes with chamomile tea is a night routine. Keep it simple to start with.

.

There is no morning and night routine polices. If you’re naturally a more driven person, start with one step a day, do that for a week before adding everything else. Otherwise it becomes just another to do list. Don’t be hard on yourself.

.

If you’re naturally a more going with the flow person, make sure you do one thing whether it’s journaling or moving your body. This will activate the part of you that is more likely to finish tasks. Not having a routine is a routine as well, you don’t have to rebellious against yourself about this, it’s for your own wellbeing.

.

I would love to hear what you find works for you as a morning or night routine 😍

.

Feel free to comment below and share this if you found it useful ✨

Loads of love to you 💛

💛 ONE STEP AT A TIME SELF LOVE 💛

one step at a time self love.jpg

In my previous post about self-love, I wrote about accepting and loving parts of yourself you don’t like.

.

You can read the previous post here 👉🏼

.

This one’s about the practical things you can do to cultivate self-love ✨

.

SET BOUNDARIES 🙅🏽‍♀️

If you have people around you constantly needing your energy, only calling you when they are in a bad place but not listening to you when you need them, see if you actually want to be friends with this person. Tell them how you feel, “I’m noticing I’m there for you a lot, but when I need you, I feel like you’re not there for me.” This is your life. When you do so much for others, what are you doing for yourself? Listen to the guilt and say, “Thank you for sharing.” and give yourself what you need without having to earning or deserving it. You deserve it anyway without doing anything.

.

TAKE A BATH & REST 🛁

Fill up a bath, put some rose oil in it. Put an ambient chill playlist on, light some candles. Et voila, you created a sacred space for yourself to absolutely do nothing. You go further by slowing down. I used to go into overdrive and not even realise i’ve been working for 5 hours straight. Then my head would feel as if it’s going to explode and i wouldn’t know how to wind down. You’re not a machine and you’re allowed to have time where you do nothing but soak in a bath ✨

.

LEARN HOW TO EAT WELL

I’m no expert in this. But luckily I had a conscious mum who taught me how to eat well followed by a nutritionist I saw for a while. Plan your meal shopping. Do a big one for the month, then another one in 2 weeks for things like fruits, salads as they will run out in the first two weeks. Have recipes of 5-6 dishes you can make. Write down the ingredients and do your shopping according to that. Have 2-3 alternative to breakfast/lunch/dinner in case you get bored of eating the same thing like I do. Sometimes prepare your table as if you’re having guests around. You are the guest! Treat yourself like a queen/king 👑

.

CONNECT WITH YOUR BODY 🏃🏽‍♀️

Your body loves moving. Choose a workout or embodiment practice. Whether its running, yoga, dancing, climbing etc, stick to something 2-3 times a week even for 20 minutes and you’ll see a drastic change in how you feel and also how your body looks ✨

.

HAVE SOME ALONE TIME 💛

We live in such a busy world, in such fast pace. It can be easy to forget to spend time on your own. Take yourself out on a date, to a movie, for a dinner, for a walk in nature. You’re the person you’re going to be with for the rest of your life. Get to know yourself, what do you like? What brings you joy? And don’t rush if you don’t know your purpose. When you do what brings you joy, your purpose will become obvious with time ✨

.

There is a place deep within you that knows who you are. You don’t have to look outside for things. You just have to let go of everything you’re not and turn down the volume of external sounds. This is why slowing down and being in silence is powerful. Switching from doing to being, it’s rejuvenating, healing and restoring ✨

.

HAVE COMPASSION TOWARDS YOURSELF 😍

We’re our worst enemies. Talk to yourself how you’d talk to a friend, especially when you’re feeling low, especially when you don’t feel at your best. The words you use carry powerful energy. You might not have crossed everything from your to-do list. That’s ok. You might not be where you thought you’d be by now. That’s ok. Train yourself to tell yourself, “That’s ok. I love you anyway.”

.

HAVE A MORNING AND NIGHT ROUTINE ☀️🌕

Morning routine can be as simple as making your bed and journaling for 10 minutes, writing out whatever you’re thinking in that moment. A night routine can be as simple as reading a fiction novel for 10 minutes while drinking a camomile tea. Keep it simple to start with. I’ll write a longer post about this tomorrow.

.

.

These are action steps that are easy to do. Go into the part of you that doesn’t feel loved, a part of you you don’t accept, pushed to the side. Love that part. When you accept and love more the parts you don’t want anyone to find out, all these practicalities fall into place anyway. External actions become effortless when you shift the internal.

.

Take one practice from this post, whether it’s taking a bath or moving your body, do it regularly for a week. Then come back to this post and add another. It’s overhelming to do them all at the same time in one go.

.

This past November and first half of December, for the first time in my life, I slept well, ate well, did 5rhythms (movement meditation), did yoga nearly every day. I always had one or two out of balance. For the first time I nailed it. And I know I might not have this balance all the time and that’s ok.

.

Ask yourself:

- Is this going to connect me more with me?

- What gives me more self-love?

.

And do that. Treat yourself like you’re your own lover 😉💛

.

I love you ❤️

.

😘😘😘

.

✌🏼 DO YOUR MORNING PAGES ✌🏼

I want to share one of the simplest but most powerful tools I came across.

.

Morning pages ✨ They are three pages you write first thing in the morning, created by Julia Cameron.
.
You get up in the morning and write three uncensored pages of whatever is on your mind at the time. You write on a paper, so you can slow down to listen. It could be as random as, “I forgot to buy eggs yesterday, I feel shit, I’m going out of London today yey, I didn’t like what X told me yesterday, what a bitch, I don’t know why I’m friends with her sometimes.” Whatever comes to you, it’s like a brain dump.
.
I started doing them four years ago when it was my last year at university studying architecture. It was a full on year, I had many excuses not to do them. I did them anyway.
.
It allows you to find a still place within yourself, a place you have all the answers you’ve been looking for. It calms down the storms of your mind and brings you back to yourself. It shows you your truth, what matters to you the most. It helps you build your trust to yourself. It helps you surrender to the unknown.
.
It’s not always pleasant, you face and write your darkest thoughts, uncensored. They’re better out than in. As you write, feel fully and allow, you naturally transform them.
.
If you’re a writer, it becomes a warmup for your actual writing. If you’re not a writer, it becomes a clear up of your mind, showing you what’s true. A place where you can leave yesterday and make a fresh start of the day ✨
.
I’m ever grateful for Julia Cameron for this tool which I recommend to half the people I meet now, including strangers on the street ✌🏼
.
This is how I started writing. I loved it so much I kept doing it ever since. I miss days even weeks sometimes but I always came back to it. Some days I write two pages, some days four. I don’t do it straight after I’ve woken up. I used to, now I do it after doing yoga. It feels better for me. Do what feels good for you.
.
If three pages feels intense, start with one. Give it a go for a week, one page a day and see how you feel in the end of the week ❤️ and let me know.
.
Love you 😍

🌳 HOW GROUNDED ARE YOU? 🌳

.

Your ability to ground yourself will be the measure of how quick you can grow.

.

We live in a physical plane, in a physical reality. You can meditate, leave your body, get loads of insights but when you come back, if you're not grounding it, anchoring it in your body, then the insight is not so useful.
.
You need a balance of both. You need the intuition (feminine) and you also need to take action (masculine).
.
If you're too floaty, then you'll never get stuff done, also your way of delivering your insights won't be clear. If you're too grounded, then you're going for a burnout and you won't feel fulfilled or achieved even when you reach your goals..
.
So here are few suggestions in how you can ground yourself:
- If you got an insight, tell it to someone assuming they don't know any of it. What will help them understand?
- Morning routine does magic. You can do 10 mins breathwork, 5 mins meditation, 10 mins journaling and you're good to start your day feeling grounded. (Message me if you've never done this and I'll send you info about how to do a simple morning routine)
- Spend time in nature, lay in a park barefoot. Imagine you're breathing in the Earth's energy into your heart and breathing out anything you no longer need from the soles of your feet.
.
How do you ground yourself? What did you do that helped you to fly but also come back down? Would love to hear your way 💫
.
Enjoy this gorgeous sun! 😍☀️
.
Sending you love ✨
.

✨ HOW DO YOU MEDITATE? ✨

I first started meditating at 8 thanks to my parents ✨ Dropped it for a while then I was meditating regularly 2 years ago twice a day, half an hour each. It helped me so much during university times while studying architecture..

.

I wouldn't get thrown around by problems and was able to hold my centre in the stressful times through finding my inner calmness.. Also helped me with sleeping less and getting more stuff done as half an hour meditation replaces a whole night's rest 😃
.
There are so many meditation types out there, I tried few then the one I resonated the most was the primordial sound meditation. Its very similar to transcendental meditation, basically mantra meditation.
.
I was initiated a mantra sound equivalating to the time and place I was born. So each time you repeat that mantra while meditating, it'd match your vibration to your Soul's vibration. It helps you induce altered state of consciousness easily.
.
So how do you do mantra meditation?
.
You sit down, close your eyes, breathe and repeat a mantra in your mind's eye. That's pretty much all you do. If you feel like you're dropping away, bring the mantra to your awareness and keep repeating it.
.
Setting an intention before you start can be great, if you feel drawn to it. Start with 5 minutes and build up to 10 mins a day. Now I do 10 mins a day and I find that it works well with the rest of my morning routine which is doing breathwork, journaling and dancing in the garden.
.
So here are few mantras you can repeat depending on what you'd like to attract to your life:
- Om Namah Shivaya (building your self confidence, reminding you are made up of divine energy)
- Om Agasthi Shahina (for insomnia, if you can't sleep, repeat this in bed)
- Om Shrim Maha Lakshmiyei Swaha (allowing more abundance into your world)
- Wah Yantee (awakening your intuition)
- Ong Sohung (opening your heart)
.
Let me know your thoughts on this.
.
Do you have a meditation practice? Would love to hear about it in the comments 🙌🏼✨
.
Much love to you ✨
