✨ WHEN I LET GO OF WHAT I WANTED IT TO BE, IT BECAME WHAT IT WAS SUPPOSED TO BE ✨

Last weekend, I went to Morag Donnelly’s Lifelines - a weekend long life drawing workshop.

.

It was art, movement and senses weaved together with intimacy and sacredness.
.
There were clays, feathers and sponges. Instead of using brushes, we used our hands in ink and clay. It was so fun to get messy 😍
.
I can be very hard on myself to do well. And I do well but then I don’t enjoy it. The joy and pleasure are lost for the sake of doing well.
.
I learnt how to draw 10 years ago to create a portfolio to study architecture. I went to life drawing classes nearly for a year in Istanbul.
.
This weekend was the first time for me drawing since then. I didn’t care what the drawings looked like. I focused on enjoying myself. It felt like going back 10 years but bringing joy, movement and sacredness with me.
.
In that enjoyment, curiousity and willingness, the drawing revealed itself. When I let go of what I wanted it to be, it became what it was supposed to be ❤️
.
It made me question where in life I bring my own agenda wanting to make things happen or where I allow, let go and receive..
.
There was a moment where the music, the movement of the dancer, the pose they held, everyone’s energy in the room was captured with a last gesture I made on the paper. I exhaled and looked at the painting. I saw that it created itself in the moment. I didn’t plan it. It wasn’t mine. It just emerged. And it was beautiful..
.
Where can you open yourself to receive rather than closing yourself to push? Where can you allow just a little bit more?
.
That’s where the magic is 🙏🏼
.
The weekend was so much more than life drawing. It was about allowing and receiving, held in a sacred space with love, empathy, honour and presence. I loved every minute of it.
.
Thank you Morag for your magic and everyone who brought their energy to it 🙌🏼 Check out Lifeline Arts, it’s genius ✨
